Yeast infections are one of the most common ailments in females yet lots of women are completely uneducated about them and know little more than there are silly commercials advertising creams to cure the infection. So what is a yeast infection actually? It's an inflammation of the vagina caused by a fungus which forms due to yeast. These are very common and some women may have numerous ones during their life. The treatments are easy just like the commercials claim and will take away all your symptoms. But what are the symptoms?
Itchy vagina An overly itchy vagina can be a red flag that something other than razor burn is going on, especially if after you itch it the sensation just becomes worse. This is caused by the inflammation being further inflamed by your contact and skin to skin irritation.
Painful urination If you feel a burning sensation when you pee or have a lot of difficulty peeing because it feels like someone is squeezing your vagina and bladder, you may have a yeast infection. The pain is severe and makes you want to not pee but it still comes and very little comes out it seems although it feels as though you have to go all the time.
Heavy and thick discharge Some white or even clear colored discharge is normal and every female has this from time to time. But if your discharge is suddenly thick, heavy and unusually frequent this is also a sign. However this a symptom of a lot of different conditions so you can't be certain it's a yeast infection right off the bat.
Tender vagina and vulva A sore vagina can be caused by lots of things but if your vagina and vulva are suddenly sore all over and are tender to the touch it may be a yeast infection. This is caused by the inflammation of the area and will make every sensation intensified.
Sex hurts It's not supposed to hurt so if the point of insertion is excruciatingly painful and you find yourself not wanting be penetrated there is a problem. Stay away from sex until your infection is cured or you will make it worse.
