Symptoms Of A Yeast Infection

Yeast infection symptoms are generally quite difficult to diagnose because they can all be caused by other conditions too. Infections of this kind are extremely common amongst women, although men can also get them too. Because of the generalised symptoms of a yeast infection you should always get your diagnosis from a health care professional rather than trying to do it yourself to be on the safe side.
If you have a white or yellowy discharge from your vagina then this could mean that you have a yeast infection, although you can have this condition without this symptom.
Again this could be caused by many other different problems, so if you have not had this infection before and had it diagnosed by a doctor you should always visit your GP as soon as possible. They will be able to tell you whether it is a yeast infection or something more serious.
Some other symptoms of a yeast infection include itchiness around the vaginal area, pain during sec and urination and a swollen vulva. As I've mentioned before these are quite general symptoms and could be many other problems which is why it is so important to go and get a diagnosis from your doctor ASAP.
So how do you tell the difference between a yeast infection and a UTI? In most cases, a UTI will cause pain even when the urine is still inside you while a yeast infection will hurt when you actually urinate. However they do have similar symptoms in some cases.
If you have a medical problem then the best way to get a true diagnosis and treatment is to visit your doctor. If you are 100% sure you have a yeast infection because you have had it many times in the past then you could try treating it yourself, but if it comes back more than twice in a year you need to see a doctor as it could be caused by an underlying problem.
